Origin of Sunday Observance
This work argues that observing Sunday in the Christian Church was not instituted by direct command from Christ or the apostles, but evolved over time through influence from pagan festivals, theological shifts, and church tradition. Straw reviews the historical evidence from the second through fourth centuries—including the writings of Justin Martyr and early councils—to illustrate how Sunday eventually replaced Sabbath observance for many believers. The book is intended to challenge readers to reconsider the origins and theological justification of Sunday as a day of worship.
